Objective. Assess the preparedness of doctors to work with children suffering from rare (orphan) diseases in the field of knowledge of legislative acts. Materials and methods. A sociological survey of 150 doctors on the problem of rare (orphan) diseases (OB) was conducted using a specially developed questionnaire for research purposes. The level of knowledge (awareness) of doctors of the main characteristics of OB, nosological forms, diagnostics and screening examinations, registration, as well as the tactics of the doctor in the presence of a disease with an unclear etiology are analyzed.Results. An insufficient level of knowledge of normative legal documents on OB for professional activities of practical doctors has been revealed. It is established that the objective reason for this phenomenon is in the sphere of organizational and methodological defects in the system of training doctors on the problem.Conclusion. To improve the knowledge of physicians on various aspects of OB, it is necessary to include in the programs of physicians' advanced training discussion of the problems and changes in the legislative framework related to OB, and to cover them at conferences and symposiums. Prepare scientific-methodological and directive materials on OB issues for distribution in medical organizations.
